Last night our Girls Flag Football Team made school history by playing in the first game in Melbourne High School and Brevard Public Schools history. Both JV and Varsity faced a tough opening opponent, Harmony High School, with a long history of winning championships. Harmony is a fierce competitor in every sense of the word and our girls, with no game experience at all, were able to hang with them. JV lost 20-14 but Cadence Skeen scored the first touchdown in school history. The girls fought hard and almost tied it up close to the end. Our Varsity girls played against a seasoned team covered in accolades. Our team held them to just 12 points in the first half. Ultimately, they lost 26-0 but considering they played against a team that usually wins by 40-50 points, it was an outstanding effort for our team with no experience at all. We are so very proud of our Lady Bulldogs and are looking forward to a very exciting season!

On Wednesday, the Mel-High Academic team traveled to Sebastian, Florida to compete in the 2025 IRL Envirothon. The Envirothon hosted teams from Brevard, Indian River & St. Lucie Counties to conduct hands-on investigations in five study areas: aquatic ecology, forestry, soils and land use, wildlife, current events and the ecology of the Indian River Lagoon.
Our team includes Camila Benitez, Tracey Chen, Aidan Clark, Sunny Elkins and Shea Hall. They won the current events area and finished as the Brevard County Champion.
Congratulations.
