Senior Spotlight: Grace Kort by Ansleigh Friday
For many high school athletes, their goal was to have the opportunity to play their sport in college, and possibly even professionally. For senior Grace Kort, this goal became a reality when she committed to Emmanuel University to play lacrosse. “I started playing lacrosse my sophomore year. I really wanted to try something new and then I never stopped,” stated Kort.
However, the recruitment process was not as easy as it may have seemed. “Recruitment is a long, tedious process. I sent many emails, compiled videos, and had many nervous phone calls with coaches,” Kort explained. However, she encouraged any athletes that hoped to pursue a collegiate athletic career when she stated, “When you find the right coach, you will know.”
When signing day finally came, Kort was filled with many different feelings. “Signing day was a rollercoaster of emotions, I was so ecstatic to get to take this step with my teammates but it was bittersweet at the same time,” she explained. After being a part of the girl’s lacrosse team for three years, she created many bonds with her other teammates. Although she didn’t want to leave her teammates, she was excited for the new opportunities she would encounter playing in college.
